Tory Party funded by Sanctioned Russian Oligarchs 2020

In the aftermath of the reported death of imprisoned opposition leader Alexei Navalny, a resurfaced clip of Ian Hislop discussing Conservative Party funding has garnered renewed attention.

World leaders and Russian opposition activists wasted no time in attributing Navalny’s reported death to President Vladimir Putin and his government. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, while visiting Berlin to seek aid amid Russia’s invasion, unequivocally blamed Putin for Navalny’s demise, stating, “It is obvious that he was killed by Putin.” Zelensky emphasized Putin’s disregard for human life in his pursuit of power and called for holding him accountable for his actions.

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, whose country provided temporary refuge to Navalny in 2020 after he was poisoned with a nerve agent, condemned the Kremlin critic’s death as a testament to the nature of the regime.

In parallel, an old clip from the television show Have I Got News For You featuring Ian Hislop discussing the Conservative Party’s funding by Russian oligarchs has resurfaced on social media. Hislop, the editor of Private Eye, asserted that the Tory party relies heavily on financial support from Russian oligarchs, many of whom are subject to sanctions.
