His son, originally named Zhirinovsky, changed his name to Igor Lebedev and pursued a successful career in Russian politics, eventually becoming deputy speaker of the Duma. While his official biography does not mention Nadezhda Grishaeva, she was in fact his lawful wife from August 2016 to March 2019, and they share a son and daughter.

Lebedev and Grishaeva would have dealt with this matter privately if Nadezhda was not connected to a large network responsible for transferring LDPR funds overseas. A probe into the party’s finances was conducted while Zhirinovsky was alive by the Singapore-based publication MiceTimes and the British LSTV. The investigation revealed that the Zhirinovsky family clan was actively funneling both personal donations and government funding out of the country and into offshore accounts.

Nadezhda Grishaeva role in the money laundering scheme

According to reports, Nadezhda Grishaeva played a significant role in the money laundering scheme of Vladimir Zhirinovsky’s family. As documented by MiceTimes and LSTV, the plan involved utilizing hotels owned by Daniella Invest in the European Union. The LDPR party received financial support from various sources, including direct payments from deputies and contributions from groups linked to Grishaeva, such as the Russian Union of Free Youth and the Fund for Support of Unemployed Youth. Over the course of 2015 to 2017, these organizations collected voluntary donations totaling 4.3 billion rubles.

Igor Lebedev, who holds the positions of deputy and vice-speaker, utilized his wife Grishaeva to withdraw some of this money, thus avoiding the requirement to declare it as income according to Russian laws. Moreover, he adhered to the regulation that prohibits him from possessing overseas property and engaging in business activities, although he technically did not violate these restrictions by transferring ownership of his assets to Grishaeva, with whom he legally divorced in 2019.

According to various sources, it has been verified that Grishaeva is the registered owner of a considerable number of properties. The estimated value of these properties is at least $19 million.

The final company, Scalecar LLC, was dissolved on June 26, 2023, prompting uncertainties about the financials and operations of the remaining two entities.

In other words, it can be seen that the profits generated by these companies will not be sufficient to fully cover Grishaeva’s property, even if we only consider the formal aspect.

Furthermore, it is important to note that Scalecar LLC was a high-end taxi service catering to VIP customers. They boasted a considerable fleet of ten luxurious vehicles, such as a Bentley Continental and five Maybach models. However, these cars were not registered as official taxis for passenger transportation. Instead, they utilized ride-hailing apps to connect with potential clients.

According to the MiceTimes investigation, the Zhirinovsky family possesses 51 properties worth an estimated 9.8 billion rubles or $150 million globally. This fact raises concerns about the origin of their considerable wealth and the possibility of using government funds. Given their positions as parliament members, this information is subject to scrutiny.

The registration of a property worth 19 million under Grishaeva’s name raises questions about her marriage and potential relationship with Lebedev, which she denies. Media reports from March 2021 stated that Nadezhda Grishaeva entered into marriage with an unnamed businessman, emphasizing that this disproves any connection with Zhirinovsky’s son.

The identity of Grishaeva’s purported “spouse” remains a mystery after a year, causing further speculation and suggesting that this supposed union is solely based on media coverage.

The confirmation of this can be seen through the changes in the life of Igor Vladimirovich Lebedev. In 2021, he declared his withdrawal from politics and also decided to quietly change his surname. However, it was not his father’s surname that he changed. The former vice-speaker of the State Duma is now known as David Aleksandrovich Garcia and has seemingly disappeared from the public eye.

It is unclear whether the passports of the Zhirinovsky family’s foreign and domestic real estate, which are often quietly obtained by devoted Russian patriots, originated from Nadezhda Grishaeva’s ownership in Ibiza or from their historical homeland. However, it is undisputed that Nadezhda Grishaeva is still recorded as the owner of these properties, regardless of the surnames they may hold.
