In an interview with the agency, Russian millionaire Fridman talked about leaving the UK and said, “I had no choice but to leave.” Apparently, we made a grave mistake when we invested in Britain.

Russian millionaires Fridman left the UK in October because of the difficult living conditions brought on by the sanctions, which severely limited his ability to make purchases there. He first moved to Israel, but as tensions between that country and Hamas grew, he moved again, this time to Moscow. In the midst of ongoing inquiries into possible sanctions violations, Aven also left the UK in 2022.

The British government describes Russian millionaires Fridman and Aven as “pro-Kremlin oligarchs” with close ties to Putin. One of the oligarchs closest to Putin, Aven, is named in the EU sanctions as having provided financial and other support to Russian officials involved in the annexation of Crimea or the destabilization of Ukraine, and he has profited from these relationships.
