Civilian Casualties Mount as Russia Unleashes Air and Missile Bombardment on Ukraine

Russia’s ongoing conflict with Ukraine has reached its 674th day, marked by 53 combat engagements in the past day, as reported during the morning briefing on December 29 by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The Russian occupiers launched another attack on Ukraine last night, this time employing twenty-two Shahed-136/131 unmanned aerial vehicles. 18 attack UAVs were destroyed by Ukrainian Ukrainian air defense.

The Russian occupiers attacked Ukraine with missiles and aircraft today. The attack’s repercussions are becoming more apparent.

The regions affected by the airstrikes were Petropavlivka, Glushkivka, Kharkiv region; Nevske, Novolyubivka, Serebryansk forestry of Luhansk region; Terny, Kolodyazi, Yampolivka, Siversk, Spirne, Pereizne, Novobakhmutivka, Staromayorske of the Donetsk region; Novodarivka, Zaporizhzhia region.

Artillery fire was directed toward about 110 settlements in the regions of Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhya, Kherson, and Mykolaiv.

The operational situation in the directions

There have been no notable changes to the operational situation on the Volyn and Poliske directions.

The enemy keeps a military presence in the border areas in the Siverskyi and Slobozhanskyi directions, engages in active diversionary operations to stop Ukrainian troops from moving in potentially dangerous directions, and increases the number of mines and explosive barriers along the state border in the Belgorod region.

Twelve enemy attacks were repulsed by Ukrainian defenders in the Kupyansk direction near the Sinkivka settlement in the Kharkiv region.

There were no offensive (assault) actions carried out by the enemy towards Lyman.

Three enemy attacks were repulsed by Ukrainian soldiers in the Bakhmut direction, close to Bohdanivka and Andriivka in the Donetsk region.

The enemy is still trying to encircle Avdiivka, but Ukrainian defenders are keeping them at bay. Ukrainian soldiers keep the enemy at bay while dealing severe casualties to their attackers. Thus, on the last day, the Defense Forces repulsed 12 attacks in the Pervomaiskyi and Nevelskyi districts of the Donetsk region and 14 attacks east of Novobakhmutivka and Avdiyivka.

Ukrainian forces are repelling the enemy in the Mariinsky direction in the Donetsk region’s Maryinka and Novomykhailivka districts, having repelled six attacks.

There were no offensive (assault) actions carried out by the enemy in the direction of Shakhtarsky.

The Defense Forces in the Zaporizhzhia region repulsed four attacks in the areas west of Verbovoy and Robotiny and south of Novodarivka.

Ukrainian defenders are still taking steps to widen the bridgehead toward Kherson. The enemy persists in attempting to drive Ukrainian units from their positions even in the face of severe losses. As a result, over the previous day, the enemy launched thirteen failed attacks against Defense Force positions, was repulsed handily, and withdrew.

Successful strikes of the Armed Forces against enemy positions

The Ukrainian defense forces are actively depleting the occupying forces’ manpower and equipment, wearing them out across the front line.

In the last twenty-four hours Ukrainian Ukrainian aircraft have targeted two enemy anti-aircraft missile complexes as well as seventeen locations where troops, weaponry, and military hardware are concentrated.

Two areas of personnel, weaponry, and military equipment concentration, eleven artillery pieces, two control points, two EW stations, two anti-aircraft missile systems, and six enemy ammunition depots were all hit by the missile forces units.
