The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) clarified that every instance reported to the Indian Embassy in Moscow has been vigorously pursued with the Russian authorities, while those brought to the attention of the Ministry have been addressed with the Russian Embassy in New Delhi. “Several Indians have already been discharged as a result,” the MEA stated.

The ministry affirmed its active pursuit of the early discharge of Indian nationals from the Russian army as a top priority. “We remain committed, as a matter of top priority, to actively pursuing with the Russian authorities all the relevant cases of Indian nationals for an early discharge from the Russian army,” the ministry emphasized in its press release.

Contrary to reports, the ministry stated that Indians seeking assistance for discharge from the Russian army are misinformed.

During last week’s weekly press briefing, the ministry urged all citizens to steer clear of the 2022 Russo-Ukrainian conflict.

“We are aware that a few Indian nationals have taken up support roles with the Russian army. The Indian Embassy has consistently raised this matter with the relevant Russian authorities for their early discharge. We urge all Indian nationals to exercise caution and refrain from involvement in this conflict,” Randhir Jaiswal stated, according to a ministry press release.
