Reportedly, the 35-year-old succumbed to a “detached blood clot,” a cause of death eerily similar to that attributed to Alexei Navalny, who died under suspicious circumstances in a Siberian penal colony.

Ivan Sechin was the successor to Russian oligarch Igor Sechin, whose opaque fortune is estimated at around $800 million. Known as the “Darth Vader of the Kremlin” due to his secretive influence, Igor Sechin’s wealth is primarily linked to his shares in the publicly traded Rosneft. Despite the lack of a clear paper trail, Sechin remains one of President Putin’s most influential allies.

The recent passing of Sechin’s son adds to a string of deaths within Russia’s elite circles, particularly prominent figures in the energy sector, since the onset of the conflict in Ukraine two years ago.

Speculation is rife that the children of Putin’s aging inner circle are poised to ascend to new heights of political and business influence following the upcoming presidential election next month.

Ivan Sechin met his demise at his residence in Europe-1 village, located approximately 20 miles from Moscow in Krasnogorsk.

According to reports from the Telegram channel VChK-OGPU, known for its close ties to law enforcement, the events unfolded in the early hours of February 5. Ivan, aged 35, expressed feelings of discomfort and suffocation around 4:30 am. Subsequently, he collapsed on his bed, losing consciousness. Those present attempted to administer initial resuscitation efforts after moving Ivan to the floor.

Simultaneously, Ivan Sechin’s security guard promptly contacted emergency services for assistance.

Reports suggest that the ambulance faced delays, taking an hour and a half to arrive at the residence.

Upon the ambulance’s arrival, medical personnel unfortunately could only confirm Ivan’s passing, as reported by the VChK-OGPU channel.

The security guards called an ambulance, providing the name “Evgeny Anatolyevich Panin.” According to the channel’s sources, this name was also on Ivan Sechin’s death certificate.

Initially, the cause of death attributed to Ivan Sechin mirrored that of Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny, whose body was allegedly discovered with extensive bruising.

However, subsequent reports claimed that Navalny, aged 47, succumbed to “sudden death syndrome” just four days prior, although there are widespread suspicions that he was assassinated at the behest of Putin.

Nine years ago, Ivan Sechin received the Order for Service to the Fatherland from Putin, a move that Navalny condemned as a “mockery,” highlighting the nepotism and corruption pervasive in the regime.

Navalny questioned, “What contributions could a 25-year-old individual, essentially working under his father’s ( Oligarch Igor Sechin ) shadow since March 2014, possibly make that warrant such a prestigious honor?”

The same source alleges that Oligarch Igor Sechin, senior figure and father of Ivan, obstructed the involvement of Russia’s Investigative Committee, FSB, and other security agencies in investigating the circumstances surrounding his son’s demise.

Instead, Oligarch Igor Sechin purportedly mobilized the Rosneft Security Service, comprising former FSB and Investigative Committee personnel known for their personal loyalty to Sechin.

Ivan Sechin was buried three days after his death.
