Questions Raises On Pavel Antov’s Cremation And Not Burial

Amid questions about why two Russian tourists, including Putin critic Pavel Antov, were cremated in Odisha instead of being buried, the state Crime Branch has learned from their family members that Antov’s mother was also cremated in Russia,

Antova Anna Pavlovna, Antov’s 35-year-old daughter said that Antov’s mother was cremated in Russia a few years ago. She did not object to her father’s cremation, as the practice is common in Russia. She added that people in Russia both bury and cremate bodies.

Antov had been living alone in Russia after his divorce from both of his wives. His estranged family members did not express any interest in taking his body back to Russia for last rites.

Bydanov Anton Vladimirovich, Vladimir’s 28-year-old son, and Antova Anna Pavlovna, Antov’s 35-year-old daughter, sent their official written consent for the cremation of the bodies and gave power of attorney to Turov Mikhail, who accompanied the deceased to Odisha, to perform the funeral and collect the ashes. The Rayagada police had received the power of attorney from the Russian Consulate General office in Kolkata.

The Rayagada police allowed the cremation of Antov and his associate ,Vladimir Bydanov, after receiving power of attorney from their respective family members.

A prominent lawyer and Congress MP Manish Tewari has raised eyebrows over the cremation of two Russian tourists upon their deaths under mysterious circumstances in a hotel at Rayagada.
