Komsomolskaya Pravda editor-in-chief Vladimir Sungorkin Dead After ‘Suffocating’ on Business Trip on 14 September 2022
Komsomolskaya Pravda editor-in-chief Vladimir Sungorkin, a prominent figure in the Russian media landscape, has died in mysterious circumstances on a business trip on 14 Sept 2022. Komsomolskaya Pravda posted a message on its Telegram account saying Sungorkin died “suddenly” after showing signs of “suffocation” during the trip.
Vladimir Sungorkin Dead – What Really Happened
Komsomolskaya Pravda editor-in-chief died at the age of 68 while on a business trip in the village of Roshchino in the Khabarovsk Territory.
Along with Vladimir Sungorkin, his deputy, Leonid Zakharov, was also on the expedition. His version said :
” Sungorkin’s death came as a complete surprise, with no prior warning signs. We were in the village of Roshchino, on our way to Khabarovsk, which we planned to reach that evening before continuing on to Moscow. Everything was going well, and Sungorkin had suggested stopping for a snack or lunch. Everyone agreed.
About three minutes later, Sungorkin began to choke. We took him out into the fresh air, but he was already unconscious. We performed CPR, but it was no use. The doctor who examined him initially said that it was a stroke. “
Vladimir Sungorkin : Biography And Career
Sungorkin Vladimir Nikolaevich was born on June 16, 1954. His father was the midshipman of the The Red Banner Amur Flotilla. After the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991, the Red Banner Pacific Fleet became part of the Russian Navy.
The bloodline belongs to the Udmurt family Sungorkins. Later he moved to Baikal. Vladimir got married and has three children.
Education
Vladimir Sungorkin enrolled in the Faculty of Journalism at the Far Eastern University after graduating from high school and received his diploma in 1976.
Journalism Career of Vladimir Sungorkin
Sungorkin started his career at Komsomolskaya Pravda as a reporter . Later, he worked with the newspaper Sovetskaya Rossiya. He had been associated with Komsomolskaya Pravda since 1997.
again from 1986, Sungorkin’s career continued in Komsomolskaya Pravda. First he became a member of the editorial board. In 1992, he became the chief executive director of the joint stock company Komsomolskaya Pravda. In 1993, at a general meeting, he was elected to the same post in the same newspaper, and since 1994 he became chairman of the council.
In 1997 Vladimir Nikolayevich became the editor-in-chief of the newspaper, and a year later he presided in the board of directors of the closed joint-stock company Komsomolskaya Pravda. Since 2002, he had held two positions at the same time – the general director and the editor-in-chief of ID CJSC of the same edition.
Vladimir Nikolaevich was also known by the nickname “Sun” . Many of his colleagues believed that Sungorkin has some Chinese appearance, which was noticeable when he laughed.

Vladimir Sungorkin was placed under sanctions by EU and West for being Director General and Editor-in-Chief of Komsomolskaya Pravda, Member of public councils in the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation .
He is one of the main actors in foreign information manipulation and interference activities or propagandists who often speaks out on Ukraine, creating misinformation and manipulating facts.
Vladimir Sungorkin is disseminating and legitimising aggressive anti-Ukraine and anti-Western propaganda of the Putin regime under direct Kremlin authority in one of Russia’s most popular media outlets. The newspaper Komsomolskaya Pravda has been described also by President Vladimir Putin as his favourite newspaper.
