Sanctions Against Lyubov Prigozhina, Wife Of Killed Yevgeny Prigozhin 2022

Lyubov Prigozhina has been sanctioned as she is a member of the Federation Council who ratified the government decisions of the ‘Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation and Mutual Assistance between the Russian Federation and the Donetsk People’s Republic and between the Russian Federation and the Luhansk People’s Republic’.

Lyubpv Prigozhina is a pharmacist and businesswoman. She owns a network of boutique stores known as the Chocolate Museum in Saint Petersburg. Back in 2012, she started the Crystal Spa & Lounge, which is a day spa, which won a third place award in 2013 for the Perfect Urban Day Spa. She has gone on to open a number of spas and wellness centres.

US Treasury Sanctions Imposed on Lyubov Prigozhina

On March 3, 2022, US Treasury said that Prigozhin’s family facilitates the activities of his enterprise, which benefits from his favored status within Russia’s elite. Lyubov Prigozhina (Lyubov) is Prigozhin’s wife, and Polina Prigozhina (Polina) and Pavel Prigozhin (Pavel) are Prigozhin’s daughter and son, respectively. Lyubov, Polina, and Pavel play various roles in Prigozhin’s business enterprise. 

Today, OFAC is designating Prigozhin again pursuant to E.O. 14024 and the RuHSR for being responsible for or complicit in, or for having directly or indirectly engaged or attempted to engage in interference in a United States or other foreign government election for or on behalf of, or for the benefit of, directly or indirectly, the GoR. Lyubov, Polina, and Pavel are each being designated pursuant to E.O. 14024 and the RuHSR for being the spouse or adult child of Prigozhin, a person whose property and interests in property are blocked pursuant to E.O. 14024.

Pavel also controls three companies, Lakhta Park, OOO, Lakhta Park Premium, OOOand Lakhta Plaza, OOO. These three companies are being designated pursuant to E.O. 14024 for being owned or controlled by, or for having acted or purported to act for or on behalf of, directly or indirectly, Pavel, a person whose property and interests in property are blocked pursuant to E.O. 14024. The EU, Canada, United Kingdom, and Australia have also designated Prigozhin.The EU and Canada have also designated Lyubov, and Canada has designated Polina and Pavel.

The actions above were taken pursuant to E.O. 14024 and the RuHSR, which authorizes sanctions against Russia for its harmful foreign activities, including violating well-established principles of international law such as respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of other states.

Financial Sanctions Notice Against Lyubov Prigozhina

On 21 March 2023 the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office updated the UK Sanctions List on GOV.UK. This list provides details of those designated under regulations made under the Sanctions Act. In the list of 1550 individuals, PRIGOZHINA, Lyubov Valentinova (Group ID: 14652) is listed at 1061.

EU Sanctions Imposed on Lyubov Prigozhina

On 23 February 2022 , Sanctions described in EU notifications mentions ” Lyubov Valentinovna Prigozhina is the spouse of Yevgeny Prigozhin and owner of Agat LLC, a subsidiary of Concord Management and Consulting LLC, which belongs to the Concord group, founded and owned until 2019 by her husband. She is associated with Yevgeny Prigozhin, who is responsible for the deployment of Wagner Group mercenaries in Ukraine and for benefitting from large public contracts with the Russian Ministry of Defence following the illegal annexation of Crimea by Russia and occupation of Eastern Ukraine by Russia-backed separatists.

She has therefore supported actions and policies which undermine the territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of Ukraine. “

Canada Sanctions on Lyubov Valentinovna Prigozhina

On February 24, 2022 , Canada imposed sanctions on 31 individuals and close associates of the Regime. Lyubov Valentinovna Prigozhina was identified as key members of President Putin’s inner circle, close contacts and family members of some individuals already sanctioned by Canada. These individuals were sanctioned in order to put further pressure on Russia’s leadership.
