Vitaly Robertus Of Lukoil Found ‘Hanged’ in Own Office by Shoelace After Complaining of Headache 2024

According to an announcement made by the company on Wednesday, Vitaly Robertus, who held the position of vice president at Lukoil, the second-largest oil producer in Russia, has passed away unexpectedly at the age of 54.

According to a statement released on Lukoil’s website, Robertus’ death has been confirmed, although the reason behind it has not been disclosed. This is the fourth instance of a high-ranking official at Lukoil passing away since the start of Russia’s involvement in the Ukrainian conflict in February 2022.

Mysterious Death Of Vitaly Robertus

Vitaly Robertus, Vice President of the Russian oil and gas firm Lukoil, whose death was reported on 13 March, committed suicide in his office according to the Russian media.

Russian media reported that shortly before his death, Vitaly Robertus complained of feeling unwell and asked for headache pills, after which he went to his office.

“He didn’t leave for several hours, Robertus didn’t answer his phone. The employees decided to go into his office and found his body. The top manager committed suicide and died of asphyxia. He had worked at the company for about 30 years,” the publication writes.

When the staff decided to go into the office, they found his body. According to them, Vitaly Robertus died of strangulation. The VChK-OGPU Telegram Channel says that robertus hanged himself with a shoelace.

According to the company, Robertus has been employed by the oil corporation for more than 30 years, initially as an economist. He has received recognition in the form of “state and departmental awards” for his contributions to the growth of the domestic fuel and energy industry.
