Lukoil Chairman Ravil Maganov Painful Death After falling from Moscow Hospital on 1 Sept 2022
The chairman of the board of Russia’s largest private oil company LUKoil Ravil Maganov, 67, died on 1 Sept 2022 after falling from from the sixth-floor window of the Moscow ‘s Central Clinical Hospital. The hospital is also known as the Kremlin Clinic for its treatment of patients from Russia’s political and business elite. Ravil was reportedly hospitalized for heart problems and depression.
Who Was Ravil Maganov?

How Did Ravil Maganov Die?
Ravil Maganov was admitted three days ago in the therapy department of Moscow’s Kremlin Clinic with coronary heart disease. He was also diagnosed with depression, he was taking antidepressants for a long time. He started behaving suspiciously after hospitalization. On Thursday ( 1 Sept 2022 ) at 6:30 am, his body was found under the windows of the Central Clinical Hospital in Moscow. The police and the Investigative Committee are working on the spot. As per the he Main Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee for Moscow, he might have jumped out of the window of his room on the 6th floor.
Ravil Maganov could have accidentally fallen out of the room while smoking. There was a balcony not intended for exit, and a pack of cigarettes was found on the window.
The chairman of the board of directors of Lukoil Ravil Maganov fell from the facade of the main building of the Central Design Bureau, which is under repair. There were no surveillance cameras there . More over, these balconies that were not allowed for patients. According to one version, Maganov could have gone out there to smoke, after which he accidentally fell out. A pack of his cigarettes was found on the window in the room.
Maganov himself was in the hospital for a routine examination due to a long-standing pathology – he had heart problems. At the same time, the manager’s wife was in the next room. He did not leave any suicide notes.
The tragedy occurred on the birthday of Vagit Alekperov, the co-founder of Lukoil and its former president. In addition, this is the sixth death in a year associated with the oil and gas industry.
The name “LUKOIL” was coined by Maganov, who proposed using the initial letters of the cities of Langepas, Urai and Kogalym, where the enterprises were located.

It’s claimed that CCTV footage was not available because cameras had been “turned off for repairs”.
Russian President Vladimir Putin visited the hospital on September 1 to lay flowers beside the coffin of former Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev, who died at the hospital on August 30.

What Are the Theories Surrounding Ravil Maganov’s Death?
It was not clear whether Maganov’s death was an accident, a suicide or something more sinister.
Conflicting theories immediately emerged in the Russian media, with Tass citing an unnamed source in law enforcement as saying that Maganov had been taking antidepressants and killed himself.
Baza, an online outlet with links to the police, reported that the oil executive might have slipped while smoking on a balcony.
Lukoil confirmed Maganov’s death but said only that he “passed away following a severe illness.”
Lukoil CEO Vagit Alekperov has carefully navigated Putin’s reign, protecting the company from being taken over by Putin’s allies. In March 2022, Lukoil’s board of directors, headed by Maganov called for the “soonest termination of the armed conflict” in Ukraine and expressed support for negotiations. This statement did not explicitly condemn the invasion, but it did represent a distancing from Putin.
In other words, ukoil had managed to balance supporting Putin and his government while also maintaining some independence for Lukoil. This has been a difficult task, but he has so far been successful. The statement by Lukoil’s board in March 2022 was a significant step, as it was one of the few public statements by a major Russian company that did not explicitly support the invasion of Ukraine.
